Compliance

Compliance includes a variety of topics that usually fall into the HR function.  They are structured around numerous laws and regulations.  This can be at the local, state, and national level.  Sorting out which applies can be a complicated tangle.  Some of the most common are associated with hiring and tracking people.  FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act), ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act), PPACA (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) are only a few that may impact your organization.
